Finance and Administration Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated administrative assistant with significant Sage 50 bookkeeping experience to support our core business functions and help us achieve ongoing growth.

Responsible for general administration duties such as data entry, preparation of reports, issuing of certificates, proofreading of training material and proposals, directing email and telephone enquiries and providing a basic level of customer service, the successful candidate will also use Sage 50 Professional to create sales invoices/credit notes, process purchase invoices, manage the sales/purchase/nominal ledgers, perform bank reconciliations and other accounting tasks. This is a varied and important role; the successful candidate will be working with a collaborative and energetic team, and have opportunities for personal development and training.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate ALL of the following:

  • Extremely high level of attention to detail
  • Excellent spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Proofreading experience
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Ability to learn quickly and work autonomously
  • Sage Accounts 50 experience (at least 1 year of experience, preferably in a service based company)
  • Good knowledge of VAT (UK and EU rules, preparing/running VAT returns)
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and discretion

Location and hours of work

You will be based in our East Yorkshire (Pocklington) office, working 40 hours per week (08:30 – 17:00) with 30 minutes for lunch.


Basic salary circa £20,000 per annum (dependent on experience), contributory pension, and the opportunity to become eligible to join a bonus scheme.
